Nature Unlimited has a wide range of volunteering opportunities, which will get you out into wonderful Scottish woodlands, help you learn new skills, expand your employment prospects, and meet new people. You can also enjoy the satisfaction of knowing your contribution supports our goal of nurturing wellbeing, and creating resilient communities here in the Borders.

Volunteers are always welcome at one of our woodland sites where you can learn green woodworking skills, carry out woodland management tasks, and connect with each other while growing, cooking and eating healthy food. You can also support our work by assisting with groups of children, young people, and adults in a range of woodland locations across the Scottish Borders, helping them to connect with nature via engaging woodland activities. If you love the sound of what we do and wish to contribute further, consider volunteering as a trustee with our board or by helping us to promote the organisation in other ways.

It’s not just the groups we lead which benefit from this, we do as well. Myself for instance, when I started volunteering in the woods back in 2015, I was a very nervous introverted person who suffered from bad depression. Today I am confident and self-assured. I have grown greatly as a person and adult. This is all thanks to Nature Unlimited giving me a purpose through responsibility for others and a sense of belonging to a team rather than just being a useful pair of hands and legs. It also helps that it really is fun and enjoyable, you always end up looking forward to the next session, thinking about what you want to do.
